How Does it Work?

At the heart of every Emcien analytics application is our patented Pattern Detection Engine. Detecting patterns within business data provides the ability to better understand the “demand signal,” which can be used to create a feedback loop that:

  • Improves your products
  • Improves your customer service
  • Helps you understand market changes early
  • Drives other internal systems for maximum efficiency

Patterns exist everywhere in nature, from flower petals and bird migrations to tide motions and seashells. Patterns also exist in business. If you have the technology to see them, your business can thrive.

The Pattern Detection Engine

The pattern detection engine can be thought of as a streaming data process that measures and dynamically builds connections between all the items it sees flowing by (similar to how Google indexes the Internet nightly). The pattern engine identifies when elements (or tokens) are found together, always apart, “distance” apart, time-dependent, etc. This network of connections is then leveraged by our unique optimizers and user interface to “automatically reveal” the strongest (and weakest) patterns found, by category but also by item. Our unique technology is extremely fast and cannot be matched by any brute force database queries, Hadoop processes or OLAP.

Model the Question, Not the Data
With Emcien, you only have to “model the question”, not the data. This means you only need to understand what question(s) you want to ask, which tells Emcien what data to load. The data itself can simply be “poured in” and the pattern detection engine will start to find patterns.

Emcien technology runs on the Amazon Elastic Cloud (EC2), which allows us to handle clients of any size. Our servers are extremely secure and highly scalable. They can also be integrated into your existing systems using our unique API functions if you wish to feed the auto-detected business patterns into other production systems.
